Oh the life of a Missionary, trying to sell religion!!

This week was a total joke.  Elder Guerrero and I worked our butts off.  Nothing happened. Literally we
just got rejected and our two investigators are going to be dropped by us, so ya!!

I worked so hard I was literally bed ridden. I worked so hard and long I puked, then someone walking by asked if I was ok. I said “Yes, do you know missionaries like us?” He just backed off and ran, one more rejection.  Can’t blame the guy though, I was throwing up.   The next day Hermana Quiñones asked “What do you have Elder?”  I told her I am sick again, but I am still working.  She yelled at me and said you need to rest!!  I said “I will rest when I have a baptism.”
Later that night I literally passed out in my bed.  I was walking to go and fell into bed without saying a prayer.  Elder Guerrero thought I was joking, ln the morning he asked what happened last night?
I said I went to sleep and he said He thought I died in my bed. That morning I was so tired and sick I could not get out of bed so Elder Guerrero called Hermana Hernandez and I got a mouthful.  She told me that I need to be healthy. I never liked to be yelled at, you guys know that, so I said back who will teach the gospel then?  Then she was sad and said ok Elder Smiley do what you want but please do not die.

On a better note we got a referral from my first area.  We got a phone call, and a sister  down in Aquas was talking to me telling me the address of a friend of hers and asking us to look her up.  I asked her if she knew an Elder Smiley?  She said that she did, and then I told her that I was Elder Smiley!  She exclaimed, “I can talk to you now, you know Spanish!!”  Well I guess things are going well in that department.

Now Elder Smiley is seeing some success, but he is paying for it.

Well I hate training that is all I have to say about that.......

My greenbean is Elder Guerrero (I know, Elder Warrior!  Sick!)

This week was actually very good.  When Elder Guerrero arrived we had literally zero of everything.  No investigators, no baptismal dates, no teaching appointments, no nothin’.

So I sat Elder Guerrero down and said “Elder do you want to baptize in your first three months?”  He responded “Of course.”   So I told him we are going to have to work our butts off ok!?
That is exactly what we did!   I gave him 7 blisters from walking everywhere in Pabellon.  He said to me just yesterday “Elder we need to teach more and walk less.....”
I just fell to the ground laughing!!!!!!!
We now have 2 investigators with baptismal dates, and one really good reference because 3 people gave us the same referral. So we will visit them on Wednesday!!!!!!!!!!!

Today we played basketball as a zone.  I think I am magically better than all the other Elders, or maybe Mexicans should just stick to soccer! I love everyone who wrote me it was a big surprise to see everyone who wrote and they all are having a great time!

If you guys want something from Mexico tell me and send me money and I will get it because everything here is so cheap!!!!!!!!

Prayer list:
Marilyn: to follow through with her promises
Alexis: listen to us
Manuel: to get married
Elder Smiley: Patience

Chris was telling Cody about our Kauai trip, telling him about going to “Glass Beach” and picking up sand tumbled glass.  She was trying to make it sound more fun than it really was, you know trying to make the vacation sound great.

Cody’s response was . . . . . . you guys are so old!!                      That cracked me up!!

OH MY! OH MY! Be careful what you pray for!

I know this is really late but hey I have a good excuse.

I AM TRAINING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But that is not all

I AM A DISTRICT LEADER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JAJAJAJA I know a little surprising huh? This has only happened two times in my mission!!!! 7 years and this is only the second time!!!!!!!!!

Pres. Hernandez interviewed me and said “OK Elder Smiley I asked a lot of Elders who I should have be a trainer and the new district leader.  Everyone laughed and said if you do not choose Elder Smiley I do not know who else you would ask.”
Elder Foster ( ZL) said he wanted Elder Smiley as one of his district leaders.  He works his butt off, and he is obedient and he will improve his district.

After that I kind of teared up.

I was talking to the other elders in the mission home and oh my gosh I had such a hard time speaking English!!!!
It is really funny to laugh and think that I was in their shoes!

Here is the story on Pres. Nelson.  He did not show up in Zacatecas.  So we left the meeting a little bummed because we could not see Pres Nelson.  Our bus was so big and the streets in Zacatecas are so small it is not even funny! Even worse, the back part of the bus was scraping on this hill, and it was bad enough the elders went over and ate at a gas station for a couple of hours. Then we got back on the bus and started to go, then the cops stopped us.  They wanted money for helping us with the bus and getting us un-stuck.   Pres Hernandez showed up from Aguas and he gave the cops the money.  We then went to a hotel and ate dinner.  That was about three more hours.  We finally got to the assistants house and went to sleep at 3 am, woke up at 6 and finally left for home. Pres Hernandez told us to go home and get the 8 hours of sleep that we need.  Man I love my president!!!!!!!!

Well dad......... I am going to kill this area with my companion ( in a good way)  We are going to work our butts off!!!!!!!!!! I plan on showing this little branch that the missionaries are here to work!!!!!!!!!!! I have contacts on top of contacts that we need to contact so LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I’ve been asking for this, it is now here, time to make things happen in Paballon!!!
